Hello All. I am getting ready to install a new Sterling Vikrel shower base in my currently gutted shower. The install guide suggests inly needing to use the felt liner but also lists using morter as an alternative. The floor is pretty level. Is there a benefit to using morter? And if so, what type would be suggested. Thanks so much!
I'm a fan using mortar not only as support, but it helps quiet down the shower or tub. It's quieter with water splashes and dropped bars of soap or whatever.

Hi. Just wanted to post a follow up. Finished putting in the pan. I ended up using Quickcrete Morter mix after a recommendation from GC. Put in a, 1 1/2" bed and set the pan. It came out just great and as level and solid as could be. So glad I went this direction and did not simply use the felt pad as prescibed originally. Thanks again!
