i just changed sinks in a small bathroom. from a standard sink with cabinet to a pedestal sink. the floor underneath the pedestal sink does not match the rest of the floor, since i had the floor replaced last year and they didnt remove old flooring underneath old sink.. any ideas on how to hide this old ugly floor surrounding my pedestal sink?
No picture so the only thing I can think of is a whole new floor. Might help if you told us what type flooring it is.This message has been edited. Last edited by: joecaption,

its a new laminate flooring. it was installed before i moved in. the bathroom is really small so i was going to put in a pedestal sink to free up some room. when they removed the old floor and installed the new, the sink wasnt removed so there is 40 year old green flooring under the sink. i dont have extra of the new flooring, and ive tried looking for rugs but cant find anything meant for a pedestal sink.
If you cannot match the flooring than your options are to make some form of inlay look with a flooring patch or just go ahead and replace all the floor. Since it's a small bath, the inlay will look a little oversized and out of place - my vote would be to just replace the whole floor since it is a small room.
You could add a curtain around the pedestal sink, which I would personally hate, but it is an option. Seems like this should have been addressed before installing the sink?
You can give your sink a color that would go well with the flooring beneath it. I hope this should work. Remodeling your Bathroom Faucets would also make it look good. This message has been edited. Last edited by: nick14,

take some brown grocery bag paper scotch tape it together and cut out a pattern/ template of the pedestal sink base.get a rug the size on the green floor use the pattern and make a cut in the rear part of the rug. use the pattern to cut out the shape of the base ... problem solved .the fabric stores have a product called " frey seal " put some all along the cut part of the rug and it will not ravel. This message has been edited.
