I was wondering how do you water proof your shower with plaster walls and a window!! My house was built in 1920s and the downstairs shower in bubbling under the paint and the wood around the window is rotten! I noticed Nicole had a window in one of her showers and she left it in!!
Can you post a picture?
What type siding do you have?
Reason I ask is the best thing you could do is get rid of the window.
Short of that replacing with a vinyl window, using PVC trim, and caulking behind it.
There never should have been plaster in a wet area.
Well, that's how walls were built in 1920. Actually there probably wasn't a shower there when built.
Caulking is not going to waterproof the window. You need to remove the casing and install a product like Kerdi or apply one of the liquid waterproofings. You have to go right to the waterproof window, preferably a little past it.
Window in a shower are never a good plan. Do as Joe said if possible.
I like Nicole and she's from this area. But sometimes I can see she's doing things way wrong. You're not trying to learn from DIY or HGTV are you? I mean these are shows that last 22 minutes. They're entertainment to a degree.
Having said that, there are several 'real' contractors and seem to do a very good job and service educating the viewers.
