My shower stall valves were both leaking. They are American Standard. After removing the old stems, I found what I thought were exact replacements at Home Depot. They were a Danco brand, part 9C-23H/C. After installing the new valves and turning on the main water to the house, the leaks are stopped but I get almost no water through the shower head. What is the issue? I really do not want to call a plumber for something this simple, I thought it would be a simple replacement. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you removed the shower head and turned on the water to verify you have good water flow??? Maybe debris has plugged your shower head, that's the first place I'd start. Perhaps changing the valves knocked some debris looseThis message has been edited. Last edited by: Re-mdlr,

Wow. I feel so stupid. Thank you, that worked wonders. Now I can use my master bath again. Removing the old valves must have loosened up some debris.

Don't beat yourself up, it's actually a lesson frequently learned the hard way. Removing shower heads, or removing faucet aerators before turning on the water saves time and effort. Flushing out the lines is always a good idea, then reinstall the parts that might get plugged up.
