Love the folding bunk bed in the Media Room. I have a rental property in Florida where this would be perfect. I have just wasted about 2 hours on the internet trying to look for plans for such a bed. We've built a murphy bed before and know it's best to have a spring mechanism to assist with pulling the bed down and putting it up. We want to build it ourselves. Where can we get the plans?
http://ana-white.com/2013/02/b...cked-twin-murphy-bed. There's a reference to contact info at the bottom of jgbreeden's post, who seems to be quite a designer. I tried to find the exact contact link but couldn't. Perhaps with more time you might be able to find it.
I also had a lot of trouble with this site loading and had to refresh it a few times before I could recreate the path to the page with the contact post. Sometimes it would reload; other times it wouldn't. It doesn't seem to be a very stable site.
This doesn't give plans but it does show some features that you might want to incorporate:
There are free plans here which you might be able to cobble together to create what you want.
Like you, I was unable to find plans specifically for a Murphy bunk bed. I tried my favorite sources but no luck.
I also see the problem - most of the hits for Murphy bunk bed plans aren't really plans; the search just delivers a lot of sites that are selling beds.
The best I could find was this from DIY on building a single Murphy bed.
You might have to use plans for a single Murphy bed and adapt it for bunks.
Maybe you can find the episode number in which the beds were featured and contact the carpenter/tradesman (listed as the credits roll) who built it to get plans.
Thanks for taking the time to reply with this much detail. I will give these a look and try to find the episode. Thanks again.
