The details and overall ambiance are so perfect that it makes me weepy.

Somewhere I read many enthusiastic comments from potential winners of Maine’s Blog Cabin and although I can relate, my plans are very different. Depending on bylaws & permits, the mission would be to make it a true DIY & HGTV legacy with my own commitment to letting hundreds have a hand in creating and marketing it toward an extremely successful community center - eventually to be left to the township of Waldoboro.

I’d begin by offering the amazing master suite as a one-of-a-kind hotel type tranquil weekend getaway. This would be complete with full service including but not limited to in house massages, stocking the fridge with the guests’ desired foods, menu requests and personalized planning. That could be as simple as a ride from the airport to full limo service and a planned itinerary so you will ALL be invited and welcomed with open arms!

Starting with at least one greenhouse for year round herbs ‘n’ organics (and prep for spring planting), school children and adults alike will be invited to learn, do and have their own team plots. Eventually there will be enough fresh produce to enhance Sunday eve dining gatherings, rounded out with theme nights such as romantic French fondues or “Games ‘n’ Goodies”. I’d love to create another “pick your own organic grocery store” with added classes of cooking/canning and maybe even the making of more “Sweet Geniuses”? (Miss that show!)

Hopefully you can follow the progress with more DIY/HGTV shows/contests so your invitations include helping the pros turn the barn into a combination workshop for skills exchange classes and creativity; additional sleeping spaces & facilities for many to enjoy everything from backgammon tournaments to Toastmaster contests. And of course, being in Maine, winter wonderland activities of ice skating through tranquilly lit cross-country ski paths would be fantastic! Have to add a FIR sauna so the hot tub could be enjoyed year round too

I have a library worth of books and binding equipment I haven’t been willing to let go of since my digital scrapbooking business, so during the week there will be designated times to relax in the “Mega Den” with ‘tea & crumpets’ along with author/poet meetings and musical jam sessions.

The beauty of all this is that if I do win, you are indeed ALL invited to visit and enjoy this INCREDIBLE Blog “Cabin” on an ongoing basis. Ahhh dreaming – my enthusiasm couples with anticipation that are turning into serious plans lol I feel as though my whole life has prepared me for this!
