Where is Ahmed/Yard Crashers-Turf War in Schedule?
Is it just me or is Yard Crashers and Turf War not in the current DIY schedule? Monday nights are all the other crashers except him. The show is not scheduled for where it's supposed to be on Thursday night. What's going on? Where is Ahmed????

these shows go on hiatus (Latin for "we ran out of new episodes, so while they make more, we run something else") and others rotate in the schedule.

the classical broadcast "buy" used to be 13 programs. one second-banana has license plates that read "13WKS" for that reason. they can vary anyplace from 4 shows to 27, depends on the production time, cost, how well they're doing, and what else the programmers have to put on.

none of which data is released to Joe Public.

you will likely see more new shows promoted around springtime or early summer. iirc that's about "new season" for Yard Crashers, topically slotted to get you buying stuff when it's worth doing.

for such keeps the product donators and sponsors really happy and buying the ads.

TV 100 class, there will now be a quiz..... .

Well... obviously "hiatus" has turned into "GONE". Just saw the ad for the new guy who is taking Ahmed's show over. WTH???

Where is Ahmed and why isn't he still on DIY/HGTV? I'm sure the new guy will try and fill the space, but Ahmed IS Yard Crashers and Turf Wars.

NOT A HAPPY VIEWER... MATTER OF FACT I'M DAMNED PISSED OFF AT THIS POINT WITH YOU PEOPLE.

I'm with you- Ahmed made a statement on his Facebook page in explaining why he is no longer there- "I will always choose integrity over what's popular, lucrative or trendy."
Apparently he is under contract for 2012- but will be back in 2013 somewhere on TV.

I am disappointed with DIY in lack their of transparency and communication in change in hosts. We are fans of Ahmed and they need to bring him back.
BTW--did they ever respond to this question???

I have zero interest in watching both turf wars and yard crashes without Ahmed. He made the show. Hopefully HGTV will pick him up for another show. If you were smart,DIY, you would rethink your host change. Maybe watching the ratings drop will help in that decision. The new host is clealy not the right choice

Yup, interesting all right - most notable is that Ahmad never says he's going back, just that it's amazing to hear from so many loyal fans. There could be a million signatures on that petition and it would not change a thing. You'll notice that neither DIY nor Ahmed say if he was fired or if he quit. The things that end an employee / employer relationship are rarely just the fault of one party. Just because this is a 'celebrity' doesn't make that any different. No one here will ever likely know exactly why he's gone but odds are the reason is no different than any other job: Money, work-load, personality clashes or money.

I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with voicing your opinions about a TV host you like, rather that it's somewhat amusing that everyone automatically assumes that DIY chose to fire the perfect host for no reason.

I agree with everyone else regarding how Ahmed makes that show. I don't have any interest in watching it without him and in fact only watch the reruns that have him in the show. My husband and I are so disappointed that he just disappeared from the show that we have decided that we will not purchase any products advertised on the new show from which Ahmed is absent. In fact, we may refrain from buying any of the products advertised on DIY. We want Ahmed!

Ahmed MADE Yard Crashers and Turf Wars. He made them incredibly fun to watch. What a personality!!! And, a very talented landscaper, too!!! I may watch the other DIY/HGTV shows, but not these two -- except for the reruns with Ahmed. Note to DIY/HGTV honchos: I change the channel as soon as the new Yard Crashers show begins.

I don't watch the show all the time, but I've noticed that there is much more product placement involved. It makes me suspect if they push a particular brand.

there was always product placement. you don't have shows without it. to be more precise, you will see $2200 kitchens and $1800 bathrooms "crashed" if you don't get glass tile, designer lights, custom showers and bathtubs transported by unicorns and floated over the house to the deck by leprechauns. manufacturers offer them to these shows because they don't show well in a catalog.

and they come with the maker's name quite seriously attached for a minimum of X seconds, or a "Schneider Electric came through for us, Mike" on Holmes on Homes.

for the 90-odd years of commercial broadcasting (100 if you cound Lee deForest's early sound broadcast experiments with music, "recordings provided to us by Columbia") it's been called "product placement," "trade-out," or "continuity."

legal as a judge wearing black. common as a key unlocks a door.

the base on which all of these programs show nice things that you can do yourself. otherwise, it would be Larry the Cable Guy and the Hillbillies arranging the beer cans to block the view of the dead dogs under the porch. prime-time. four hours a night.

In comment to swschrad's post....More power to those companies who choose this method for advertising their products! I think it's brilliant and much better than the product placements that happen in movies and tv shows (at least a regular person generally gets to benefit from it). Heck! They can product place the living daylights if they ever come to MY house!!

I must say I have been wondering where Ahmed went! I see him on the website but not on any of the new commercials for Crash Week!! I am very disappointed! Ahmed MADE Yard Crashers!! Personality is EVERYTHING & he fit the bill. The new guy is cute and all but just doesn't have the personality. You either have it or you don't! Sounds like some politics involved: TV networks, advertisers, etc. Hogwash!! I can't believe that something can't be worked out and that diy would allow such a disaster! BIG MISTAKE ON YOUR PART!! I concur, I will not be watching "Yard Crashers" w/out Ahmed! Work it out so that Ahmed comes back!! Geesh!! And to think I was just about to do a video & pix so that Ahmed could possibly come to Suwanee, GA & do my disaster of a backyard!! Good grief!! Just say "NO" to drama!!

HGTV is really starting to blow.
They have gone from showing mostly diy type shows to all of these reality type shows, (property virgins, house hunters, house hunters international, house hunter vacation homes, property brothers, ect)
So Ive already been a little annoyed with the channel but today I find out Ahmed is no longer the host of yard crashers, this is total bs, I watched one with the new guy and it blows.
HGTV needs to bring Ahmed back and go back to producing actual diy shows!!
