Last weekend I saw an episode of Yard Crashers or Desperate Landscapes where they made a fence out of game wire that was framed with 2x2 and mounted on 4x4 posts. I really love the idea, and think that this style fence would look great surrounding my country log home property. I am wondering how the wire fence is attached in the grove of the 2x2. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.This message has been edited. Last edited by: Shoofly,
I didn't see it so I can only speculate.
My guess would be they either didn't attach it to the grooves depending on the attachment to the posts to keep it tight or they would have had to have used a staple gun (air driven) to drive staples into the 2x2. It would be very difficult to effectively drive staples with a hammer into the rail. It would be a bit springy and getting a decent hammering angle would be hard.
Any advice given here is general in nature and is not necessarily valid for your given area. If in doubt check with your local codes enforcement department for what is required when doing electrical, plumbing or structural work on your house. Permits may or may not be required in your area and home owners may not be able to DIY some tasks. I have no way of knowing if you have the skills needed to complete the tasks you are asking about, when in doubt seek professional assistance.
My advice may be worth exactly what you pay me for it. :-) For the record I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.
