This is a general curiosity question, not only about Yard Crashers, but basically all the crasher type shows. The premise is, the "mark" is found one day and then the work begins the next and continues for one to two more days. What I am trying to figure out is when does the host have time to obtain all the necessary building permits, inspectors, etc. Many of the "Crashers" put in new electrical &/or gas lines, which require an inspection before anything is closed. The shows never mention permits, inspections, or any of the other requirements prior to starting or completion. How and when are these obtained and if they are not obtained, how is that possible. Whenever any form of construction is planned, the obtaining of permits and inspection falls upon either the contractor or the owner. I'm confused. Thanks for answering this perplexing question.

there was an answer somewhere on the boards once, and I have seen inspectors prowling House Crashers.

iirc, when a production company is planning to go to Gutcheck Gulch, they pre-contact the inspectors there, and provide basics of who they are using and what they have in their "gimmes" truck. they whip out drawings on computer once they've measured up things, pay the expedite fees, and charge ahead.

seldom you see all the ants crawling around behind a camera on a TV shoot. you don't even see half of them on "Turf Wars" and that looks like a flash mob. they're lining up all the dirty work and paperwork. just like a "Extreme Makeover Home Edition," the block on which one of these things is held has got to be swarming like the state fair with people and trucks.

sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?
