I really enjoyed the Sat and Sun morning "New Yankee Work Shop" and "Wood Works" shows. But, after watching them over-and-over again, I'm sort-of-glad they took them off.

Now I have a problem; What to do on Sat and Sun mornings? I like "Ask this Old House" and "This Old House" alright, but, they deal mostly with home projects. I am wook worker and crave wood working shows.

I'd like to see DIY show programs like Router Basics and Wood Turning Basics during this Sat and Sun time frame.

There was a program on PBS a while back "The Router Show" or something like that. This was a really interesting program even though I have been using routers for 30 years, I really enjoyed it.

And, having recently become interesting in Turning, I know how difficulty it is to get started without help of some kind (Books, Vedios, TV Shows, Professional Courses, etc.,). Learning which tool to use and the correct way to introduce it to the project is hard to pickup in itself and almost impossible to do from books.

I understand that new programs cost money and take time to build, but, wouldn't it be nice.

BillBull, I agree and would really like to see a show dedicated to educating interested parties in the use of woodworking tools! I'm just getting started in woodworking and have a very basic knowledge. I would like to learn more on what tools I will need to do basic projects. I currently have a table-saw, circular saw, sabre saw, hand drills drillpress, sander and selt sander. I've found out the hard way that I don't have the proper clamps and that I think I need a brad nailer. What else? If DIY does do a show like this, I'd watch religiously!
ps. DIY - I really like Ahmed's show where he picks up people at a home-center and then remakes their lawn. Send him to me, I've got a hillside yard and can't maintain it. The grandkids have been "Hill Surfing" for years!
Also really like the "Cool Tools" show!

I really like the Cool Tools show also but with the current economy, I don't spend money, I use what I have. I would like a show that deals with the basic tools and nothing fancy. You know like an old school type of teaching. I do miss the other shows that they have stopped airing.
BuddyL,
Have you watched the garage shop makeover show? Don't remember the exact name but when they design the garage, they make sure that everything needed to do woodworking is there. This might give you some idea of what your missing.

DIY if your reading or care... we want more woodworking!

I only upgraded my cable to digital to get DIY. The only reason I wanted DIY was for the wood working.

Hint hint, wink, nudge, nudge!

I agree the rotation was poor (who picks what to show?) but for me I learned something each time I watched. With 20 years of shows, you would think we wouldn't see the same episode 10 times this year. Alas, without Woodworking Shows, I can downgrade my sat package and save a few bucks a month.
