L.D., I've used original Titebond, Titebond II & Titebond III to attach solid wood edging to MDF plenty of times and never had any problem with warping, twisting or bludging due to the MDF getting wet from the glue. As Jaybee said be sure to clamp is securely and when cleaning any squeeze out only use a slightly dampened sponge to prevent any moisture problems with the MDF.
But this is just my opinion, I hope it helps.

MDF is a very poor choise for a shelve. It does not hold screws well and will sag with the slightest weight on it. Lowes sells laminated pine shelving in the wood area.
