1st, DIY needs more woodworking shows. Saying that, I would like to Thank DIY for returning "Tools and Techniques" even though they are all Re-Runs- Bringing back the show to full time would be even better.
THE BAD- WTF happened to "Wood Works"? have you canceled the BEST Woodworking show on TV? Don't tell me you have.
Does anyone know if Wood Works is coming back? Are they just at the end of a Season? (long Off season) Of if it has been canceled?
One more woodworking show that I watch that I didn't list is: Handmade Music on the DIY Network at 4:00am and 4:30am on Monday Mornings (EST)
Last 2 weeks they made a Violin and this week they made a banjo. It's not exactly step by step like Wood Works or New Yankee Workshop, but they do go step by step. It has a different builder for each instrument, and although there are a lot of us that may never make a music instrument in our life time, it is interesting how they make them, and there are some techniques that we can use in the projects that we make. I just found it a couple weeks ago, so i don't know if they will all be woodworking episodes, but all the ones I have seen so far have been.
It's "Handmade Music" on DIY 4:00am EST & 4:30am EST. Next Monday (11-24-08) at 4:00am is part 2 of the "Handmade Old-Time Banjo" and 4:30am is Part 3- The Final Steps of the "Handmade Old-Time Banjo"
If your lacking woodworking shows and need a fix, this is interesting and informative. Check it out if you haven't already.
David Marks did that a long time ago, they were showing his series but they completly took it off. And I agree with you Dankerr, wood works is the best show but instead they put that dumb show deconstruction on. And I also would like to know why they play the same 4 episodes of New Yankee Workshop?
David Marks brought an artistic vision of what I could someday make, and Norm Abrams tought me how to start and build what I am building today. Without them, why do I need DIY?
Both David Marks and Norm Abrams had a good thing going. I liked David's approach to woodworking, especially handling of tools, but I think Norm explains his proceedures better. And....speaking of tool shows.... I really enjoy seeing new tools and processes, but...is it possible to get a host who knows what he's doing and not a moron like Grundy? Send him back to rap central or wherever he escaped from.
