I am currently remodeling my house. We are going to match the kitchen trim to the cabinets and floor. we have an open door way to the living room where do i transition the trim to a different color?

Assuming you have an open arch with trim on both sides, I would paint the arch white, and paint the different trim colors on each side. Others may have addtional thoughts,
