iam new to blogs and somewhat to woodworking. iam from the boston area and was wondering if anyone knew the area and where to find a good wood shop? i found 1 in cambridge called rockler. its a really sweet store but dont have room for tons of tools for raw wood. i need someplace for plywood vineers and milled wood, 1x6,2x8,2x10 ect.?
hardwood, I would check your local yellow pages under hardwood, plywood or lumber and start making a few calls. Rockler is actually a pretty good store to buy tools and wood from, but A good hardwood/plywood retailer will usually have more of a selection on hand. When you call them if they don't have what you're looking for ask if they can steer you in the right direction. I actually prefer sticking to local suppliers for my stock, but I have used Constantine's http://www.constantines.com/ and Wallumber http://www.walllumber.com/default.asp several times when I couldn't find what I needed locally or the prices even with shipping were better. Just remember that if you do use an on line retailer to include the shipping charges or you're not really comparing apples to apples.
But this is just my opinion, I hope it helps.
