I needs plans for an outdoor storage bench
I have been searching on line but i don't like the ones I have seen. I want to actually be able to sit on it as well as store some stuff in it. I want it to be about 4 foot long.

If you have the ability to build the bench, then look for one that is similar-but-not-quite-right for what you want. Dimensions are easy enough to change to fit what you need.

Have you checked Wood Magazine? There are links to many benches here:

http://www.woodmagazine.com/wo...bench&sa.x=46&sa.y=9.

Wood Magazine's projects are generally for experienced woodworkers. Some of the plans can be daunting.

Better Homes and Gardens has plans as well, and often less complicated than the Wood Magazine projects:

http://search.bhg.com/search/s?q=outdoor+benches

You might also try searching under outdoor benches, storage, or outdoor storage benches...something like that.

Alternatively, find a plan for an indoor bench that you like, then adapt it for outdoor use by changing the type of wood, fasteners, etc.

Deacon's benches are popular stoarge benches; you might try searching under those terms.

What is it about the plans you've seen that you don't like?

Maybe a chest chair or bench.. Modern type of that I guess were also available in IKEA store. I have a client that are into door supplier business. You can visit them at Caldwells.com.

I guess I'm in the "if you can draw it, you can make it" territory. use cedar or green wood 2x4s, treated exterior plywood, overbuild the frame, and make a hinged top. no lock, if kiddies crawl in, they have to be able to push up the top.

sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?

Good work, someone finally said it. I shake my head thinking of those looking for plans when the plans are in their head. Draw it out and build it. Simple.

Mak Cool e sure you use the right screws if you want this storage/seating box to live outside. A bit of rain and a few types will just rust through.

Use stainless ones like these http://www.tradefixdirect.com/...ainless-steel-screws or galvanised ones as they're better against the wet and won't rust Smile

Let us know how you're getting on and post us the finished product!
