My husband and I were given 8 church pews, they were originally 12 feet long but in order to get them out of the church they were cut. Now we want to put the decorative ends back on a couple of the pews. However, the seat is a bit bowed and it wont fit into the end. What are some suggestions to fit the seat into the end?

good old fashioned steaming. it expands the wood a little, but makes it more pliable. steam it until you can block and tug and force it into the dado on the pew ends. pull it back, put glue in the dado, reinsert the pew and set it home with a rubber mallet and a knock-block to prevent marring the pew end. sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?
