I had a new dishwasher installed after the granite counter tops were installed. The problem is they did not put something for the dishwasher anchored in. So I got a 1 x 2 and attached it to the dishwasher and will glue it to the granite and screw the 1 x 2 from the ajoining cabinets. My question is that there is a small gap between the bottom of the 1 x 2 and the top of the dishwasher. What kind of filler can I put there. Will silicone work?

You can use silicon or even weatherstripping. Also, most dishwashers come with a varied supply of top and side rubber gaskets.
