Hi, I have been working on a entertainment center in making by myself.It is 7feet wide, 6 ft in height and 1ft in width, it does have shelves on either side and opening at the lower aspect 30inc x 21 inches for DVD and DVR, I have Questions regarding making it more stable. Any solid suggestions please. Not able to post a picture. Will keep trying. Thank you | |||

For a large entertainment center, the two weak areas are it rocking from side to side and pulling away from the wall. To strengthen it up, the easiest way is to install a solid back. This will usually be a thin (1/4") smooth grade of plywood. If parts of the back need to remain open, even installing a back to a portion of the unit will help a lot. To keep it from tipping, the best way is to incorporate an area up high that is strong enough so that a couple of screws can be anchored to the wall framing behind the unit. Jaybee | ||||
