In the process of building a 3 ft high retaining wall using interlocking blocks on a slope that is parallel to one side of a swimming pool. All diy manuals indicate to lay a perforated drain pipe behind the wall. My question is, How do you end the pipe? Do you just cap the ends? THe slope is not that steep, so it would be imposible to end it at daylight.

Hi, joe v!
My husband and I did a retaining wall several years ago, and we used a kind of small-holed wire to cover the ends of the drain pipes/hoses. (I'm trying to think of the exact name of it, but it's escaping me right now!) But it was kinda of like chicken wire, but with much smaller openings to keep out (most) critters. We bent it and formed it around the open end of the drains, then secured it with some straight wire sort of weaved in and out, and so far, so good.
Is that the sort of thing you're asking about? Hope it helps! Smile

Where did the ends of the drain pipe terminate? Were they just buried under ground or did they end at a dry well or daylight?
