Wife and I are looking for a good place to whitewater raft. We have good experiance. We are from albany ny area. We have been to tahoe for rafting and places in upstate NY. Where is the best place in the US to go rafting? The longest trip we have did so far is 17 miles. Looking to try to do a lot more if possible.
Ive only went once and that was with Class 6 down the New River in WV. lasted a good cpl hrs and painful sunburn later (put sunblock on every part EXCEPT the top of my legs). Theres another good one in Penn., I can say the name, but dunno how its spelled so here it goes: yagahaney
I just noticed your post but you can use this for your next trip. I see you have gone west, the best whitewater trips we ever had was on the Arkansas River out of Salida Colorado. You will want to rent the wet suits as the river is snowmelt cold and go in early summer for the best ride. One trip was through Browns canyon another we went through Royal Gorge both on the Arkanas. Our upper body strength isn't good and we had teenagers along so we opt'ed for the guided trips, but you can paddle with a guide. Before we are using walkers I want to do the Colorado and Snake rivers.
I've rafted on other parts of the Rogue River in Oregon, but have not been on the wild section. Check this link out if it helps. But if you're interested be sure to ask them about excursion boats, I think called Hellgate, that might be bothersome--I don't know though. http://www.wildrogue.com/rogue-whitewater-rafting-trips.htm adding this http://www.hellgate.com/ Last I heard, it took permits to go down the wild section to limit the number of people.

The Ocoee area is a great place. Located in East Tennessee near the GA border. That's where a lot of the white water activities were held when the summer Olympics were held in Atlanta (don't remember the year).
