I have an idea for a new show on DIY or HGTV that would be a huge melting pot between consumers and manufacturers, where people vote on certain categories of items through social media or blogs, and when the results are in, the manufacturer's compete and bid on special pricing for the people (consumers) watching the show on the items, the next episode. The final result being a steep discount and a live process, interweaved with design projects. The trick would be to get the manufacturers and vendors as interested in this as the consumers. I'm sure they already know the value of HGTV's influence on consumers. And of course, a lot of DIYers would love to buy a motion-activated Moen (for example), but have price constraints. It would be a real bonus for watching, (not to mention economic stimulus) and it doesn't have to necessarily be big items. And of course, in the midst of all of that bidding and voting, design projects featuring the items offered at the discount. It would be kind of like a Groupon for HGTV. In fact, a mixed breed show of Groupon meets Shipping Wars meets Blog Cabin! What do you think? I would love it. I'm always going online to look for these products they show on DIY and HGTV and I'm a hardcore addict, too. | |||
