THE PROBLEM IS, I LIVE IN A VERY SMALL COMMUNITY IN LOUISIANA AND I HAVE YET TO SEE ANYONE COME EVEN CLOSE TO MY LOCATION. WISHED YOU GUYS WOULD HIT THE SMALL SOUTHERN TOWNS. I DESPERATELY NEED HELP WITH MY VERY SMALL HOUSE AND YARD!! LOL!!

the decision makers at the production houses are not recorded to come to these boards.

a reminder that all the "crashers" work their homeowners like mules... if nothing else, as gofers, but the homeowners always do something on camera because this is, after all, DIY network.

and production exigencies usually mean the shows are run within a half hour's drive of production HQ, or in a big shiny city where lots of folks will flock to the home improvement stores if a show host is out and about. after all, without the commercials in the programs, there isn't a DIY Network.

wish you luck, and if you plod along and chop up your dream project into little do-able daily tasks, you can get 'er dun without two or three cameras, boom operator, lighting gaffer, one or two production assistants, three or four truckloads of tradesmen, and a yard full of stuff you didn't know existed Wink

Do they ever do a Garage Crashers show? I love watching Yard Crashers... You can get great ideas! My garage s a mess! 13 years of junk. Embarrassed to say that we have found raccoons, possums and even a snake in our garage. My suburban neighbors hate to see the door opened. I'm overwhelmed and don't know where to start! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

during the day, get in the garage and close the door. see any light anyplace? -- door, roof, walls? those locations are entry points, and need to be sealed tooth-tight and weather tight. if the light is around the garage door, it needs to be adjusted so it closes tight against the weatherstrip on the stops.

the only way to clear out the crud is to clear it out... take it outside, put it on the driveway, and decide if you are going to use it in a year. anything you're embarassed to have out in view should be thrown out. anything you are not going to be using in a year should be thrown out.

clean the garage well, if it's a dingy dark pit this is the time to pull the breaker and add more lighting.

now don't bring anything back in without a place for it. if that means you nail up some 2x4 at shoulder height and use a bunch of vinyl coated garage hooks to organize, that's a win.

and that's the plan. tightening up the garage keeps the critters out, and never bring food back in for them. dumping the cruft and lighting the workspace makes it easier to organize the stuff you want and use.

if it cleans up well enough to put a table and cnairs in there and invite the neighbors for a little food and fun, all the better.
