Chris Grundy is so obnoxious that I either watch the show on mute or not at all. Seriously, this guy doesn't know anything about tools, and for some reason refers to everything as a "joint" (i.e. "check out this joint right here"). Please replace Grundy with someone less annoying, who is either knowledgeable or funny.

-Thanks on behalf of everyone I know who has ever seen this show.

Here here! I totally agree. I've complained about this guy for some time, but obviously no one is reading this board. Yes, everything is a 'joint'.
And it's a shame, 'cause otherwise there's pretty good information underneath all the gansta rap crap.

Good lord yes. This guy is impossible to listen too. I thought my wife and I were the only ones but theres a few others in my family that I found out DONT watch this show because of this guy. And most of us are gadget lovers. But this Grundy guy is just juvenile and obnoxious. Clean it up, stop yelling and calling things "Joint" and we'll be fine. Until then......Im not watching.

this is obviously a pay-for-placement show. nothing wrong with that, they've been on TV since commercial TV began 60 years ago.

but Grundy can't pay enough to keep mugging around these tools Wink

He gets 100 times more complaints than anyone else on DIY shows, yet no one listens. I can't and won't watch the show - he is just obnoxious.

Grundy has done a couple of contest things, and is presently hawking another one in promos. and is not the expected grating self.

it's dialled-up for Cool Tools to be grating. whoever's behind it WANTS it to be a carney show. I repeat, it's got to be a pay-to-play to drop a multi-name half-hour ad into DIY's audience. and if I'm right, Scripps has two choices... cash the check and ignore the complaints... or refuse the show.

Maybe this guy calls everything a "joint" cuz there's so many different things that can legitimately be called a "joint".

A "joint" can be a place you go to hang out with other scum like yourself, or a connection between two bones in a skeleton like a knuckle or knee or elbow, or a connection that joins two or more parts of a machine, or something held in common between two or more people or groups of people like a joint bank account or a joint effort or joint investigation, or a rollie you smoke to get all wobbly hi.

Maybe the best thing to do would be to let the guy watch himself on TV to give himself some biofeedback.

Nester must be enjoying his last desription of a joint.

Biofeedback is the process of becoming aware of various physiological functions using instruments that provide information on the activity of those same systems, with a goal of being able to manipulate them at will.[1][2] Processes that can be controlled include brainwaves, muscle tone, skin conductance, heart rate and pain perception.[3]

No, that's not what I meant at all.

I'm just saying that Chris Grundy might mellow out if he did the show totally wasted. It's not like he might set a bad example for the little tykes, cuz they don't watch either. And the rest of us might get a contact high.

YES ! Please get rid of Grundy...
The show could actually be interesting, since quite often they actually do feature some really cool stuff,
But this guy makes it impossible to watch...
The yelling, and ghetto style language are totally out of place for a show like this.

Dude, you're late to the party.
We've all complained about this clown for years.
It's clear, no one from the network reads these posts.
If they do, they must consider it as a positive indication
that idiots actually watch the show.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that Cool Tools has been canceled. All you'll see now are reruns.

can they run 'em backwards and double time? might be entertaining. way back in my innocent youth, I ran tape duplicators as part of my gig in radio production.. double speed and backwards so you didn't have to rewind the tapes.

on occasion, the shows made more sense that way Wink

(( you'd been up too long trying to make deadline if you understood what Those Voices were saying ))

is it just my imagination, or is hosting "Blog Cabin" the water slide off the network? iirc half the hosts of the showcase never are seen again... .

I don't think so. I think that it's more that DIY hosts have a limited time run - seems like 5 years or so is about average. While I think that BC 07 was the last major thing that Amy Devers did for DIY many of the others (even Ahmed) stayed around for a while after completing their BC run. Or, it could be that the format of BC, with one main host and then a slew of 'guest hosts" works best if the main host is not currently hosting another show. Knowing television, if a regular series ends and it's host is used for a one-time special then all it takes is no new show coming along in the pipeline for that host to be out of work.

wondered what happened to Amy Devers, so Googled it. 9 years on DIY to the Rescue! -- and still out there on other networks. from 2003, that means they're counting reruns, however.

proof that losing one show doesn't prevent getting another, and that some shows have legs for quite a while, even after production stops.

but there are tangible and intangible factors that figure in. if Bob Bombast and the crew of "Sledge That Bathroom!" for instance always put in what's hyped most today, changing fashions and tastes will probably yield an afterlife of some 30-second clips on a "best 10 bathrooms" show.

Adolf Hitler III as a TV host is probably going to be canned after the first airing, and no reruns. matter of fact, probably get knocked on the head two minutes into the first show, and reruns of "Ed the Plumber" would hastily be tossed across the room to feed The Bird Above. the promo reel. the outtakes reel from the Christmas party. anything!

the TV beast must be fed 24x7, no matter what.

I'm very proud to count Amy Devers as a friend and can tell you that in addition to being a great actress Amy has some serious building skills. I am not surprised that she has continued to stay busy with all sorts of varied projects all over the world.

Best of all, she's just a genuinely nice person.

"great person" came through on the air.

over any length of time, you can't hide yourself from the camera.

Chris Grundy could anger the pope IMO. But do what I do and don't watch the show. Big Grin
During the latest fall storms confinement I watched an episode of Blog Cabin [don't ask what location, don't know}. But Chris said they were installing "super strong" drywall, whatever that is. No wonder novices get funny looks @ the hardware store when repeating such stupid descriptions. Confused

That's funny - One of our 'in company' jokes is the use of 'structural drywall'.
