I know that Scripps Network doesn't seem to care about Knitters or Crocheters but I still wanted to try one last time to help so knowing that Scripps is in Knoxville Tenn. I sent ABC,NBC and CBS television news stations for Knoxville e-mailing them, telling them all about how Scripps has treated their viewers. If anything maybe someone will place a call to Scripps programming manager.
I told them we wanted new Knitty Gritty shows and Vickie Howell to come back as host and to put "Uncommond Threads" back on the air. Their response to our calls, letters, e-mails and petitons complaining was to no avail. They say they are for Home Improvement shows. Well I am from California and people are losing their homes left and right. With food and gas as high as they are who can afford to improve their homes and for what? They can't sell them at top dollar anymore.
I even sent copies to CNN,FOX and MSNBC asking them to do a show on who really controls television programming the viewers (No) or the CEOs and producers.
Again, this may not do anything but before I stop watching DIYNetwork I am sure someone will call Scripps on this.
The latest hot gossip for me is that I just signed on to be the needle arts expert for the Lifetime Television website! I'll be hosting five, 5 minute holiday project videos that you'll be able to click & see as of this summer (make sure to check out Kathy's though, in the meantime)! As you've probably figured out by now, there's not likely to be anymore new Knitty Grittys so I'm thrilled that I'll still be able to craft in all of your homes with you, via the web. I'm also working on some possible mobile phone programming and Barnes & Noble videos so not to worry, I'm not going anywhere! Oh, and don't forget, the Knitty Gritty 1-hour special will be airing this summer.

I think DIY does not care about their female viewers unless they are into home improvement.
They have not filmed any new Knitty Gritty for almost 2 years now so I think the show is gone by the wayside.
I am ready to close the petition soon as Scripps and DIY are not listening. I have sent e-mails , snail mails and phoned with no real answer. I think we have run out of options. Not sure what to do next ????

Lulu, I for one, really want to say I appreciate all you did to keep KG on DIY. You did everything possible, and took a lot of time away from your knittin' to try to deal with them. And I know all of us appreciate it. It is just too bad the almighty dollar wins over loyalty. We will just follow on Lifetime for now. Again, thanks. nancy3
Hi!!: I just joined to day too!! I have grown to love the Knitty-Gritty Show so much, i was telling people about the show and now its gone.I loved all the different spins everyone had on the same subject, our love for Knitting.I really am sorry to see this show go, i really am.And, i can't stay up until 3:00 in the morning to watch the shows either. Everytime, i get to liking a show they cancel it.That is so sad.Guess i will try amd find another channel to watch from now on.

I just signed on today for the message boards so forgive me if I mess up. I signed up for this exact reason. I am on short term disability for severe hypertension and cardiac issues. Don't the powers that be know that knitting and other needlecrafts are very therapeutic for those issues? Vickie was my teacher and is my inspiration. I am so disappointed to be stuck with home improvement shows both on DIY and HGTV. I can't afford to do any of it but knitting is so inexpensive. I miss you, Vickie!

I am so ticked, I just discovered Knitty Gritty and now I find out it is to be canceled. Well, no wonder, I had to tape the show at 5:30 AM every day except Sunday and Monday. How do they expect to increase viewership that way.
DIY states that it has not been canceled, only reruns , though they have not recorded any new shows for almost 2 years now according to Miss Howell . They sold the sets on Craigs list this past spring. And lastly will not fess up to the fans of the show that have e-mailed, snail mailed and phoned.
Vickie will be on Lifetime.com doing videos there.
They do not care about the crafting viewers. They only care about Home Improvement shows. Maybe we can convince regular tv channels ABC, NBC,CBS to get a knitting & crocheting show started.
I wonder if they will keep the re-runs on. They're new to me. I just started knitting 3 months ago. Thank goodness for DVR's.
It's exremely disappointing. Everybody is out for the all american dollar. Like some of you have said how can people watch it at 4:30am (central) if you don't have a DVR.
I guess I've gotten out of the loop in regard to Knitty-Gritty. Hope all goes well on the Lifetime network. How many women or even men are interested in watching all day on how to repair a bathroom or a kitchen..How does Martha Stewart fit into this schedule?
I wish Vicky all my best with all her future endeavors. As for Scripps network and DIY - only THEY know in what direction they're going, or WHY. Maybe the rest of the world does indeed watch home improvement shows ... I agree with the majority of expressed opinions: we dont care to see only home & Landscaping improvement shows 24/7. Scripps has certainly done nothing For YEARS to please the viewers who watch crafting, sewing, scrapbooking and knitting shows on DIY. So many letters and emails have been sent them, and so many posts on this very same board spoke of the same disenchantment - yet they do not read, they certainly do not care to reply if they read. It's condescending. Most of us crafters (of all types) have moved on to other Message Boards and found other venues to keep up with the trends in whatever field it is that interests us. Keep in mind that many of our favorite show hosts have their own blogs and you can keep pace with their new undertakings in that way. Once their contract has terminated with DIY they may not be able to post on this board anymore. Thanks to each of you that's shared information regarding our favorites show hosts and new venues you (and the hosts) have gravitated to. It's time to move on, sadly. V.

The networks NEED to know how important knitting and crochet are to the improvement of everyone's and that is children included to their educational development:
Right now at Eastern Michigan University and City Knits in Detroit there is a study that is going on right now in how these crafts improve a child's mathematical skills, cognitive skills and much more.
It doesnt look like anyone at DIY or Scripps network is paying any attention to either knitters, scrapbookers or quilters - for that matter to ANYONE into any type of handwork or arts&crafts. No shows cater to our needs and interests. At the very least, a message from the them to their viewers and Message Board members regarding their future plans should have been posted here long ago. No wonder that most everyone that used to frequent this message board has moved on ... All my best to all of you - keep the creative juices going and continue to share your knowledge with others whenever and wherever you can. regards, Vianna
