Can I steal power from my above sink light junction box to add under cabinet lighting? There is a switch that controls the light. I think this is an easy DIY job. Any advice?
You probably can unless that light circuit is already almost overloaded. Under-cabinet lights are usually low voltage DC powered off a transformer. The number of lights is limited by the transformer output.
Stay away from the 'hockey puck' style of lights. While I like the look and the ease of install, I've never seen a set last more than 6 to 9 months.
