Replacing a ballast
2 light flourescent fixture not coming on all the way, tried changing bulbs still no go.So drew a diagram of my ballast and went and got a new one. Old one had a pair of red & pair of blue coming out of one side. Other side had a black & white along with a pair of yellow.

New ballast has black & white on one side, and the other side has 3 pairs. Blue & yellow coming out 1 grommet and the red out of the other. The yellow is longer than the blue and red I'm assuming since it has to go to the opposite side.

I never even bother replacing a ballast. Between trying to find a compatible match and making sure it can fit into the light housing, it takes too much time (since I am billing out time). It works out to be less expensive to replaced the entire fixture.

there is a diagram on each ballast saying which wire colors go where. just match the pairs up. there is no polarity.

on fluorescents, make sure there is a good ground to the frame before chasing anything else. the tubes need reference to ground within about a half inch if they are going to light. it's a Tesla thing.

sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?
