Wiring 2 outlets ?
Hi all,

I have one black and white power coming from the attic, down to one basic 110 outlet, once that outlet is wired it will pigtail over to a second outlet 5 feet away. I don't know which order the white and black go to either outlets. (No ground wire, this is an old home).

If anyone can simplify which wire goes to what screws that would be great.... thanks!

Looking at it from the front view.
Would it be white main wire top left screw, black main wire bottom left. And connecting that outlet to a second outlet, another white wire, top right, and black wire bottom right?

Looking at the outlet from the front: The right side gets black, the left side gets white. Never put black and white on the same side - those two terminals are connected and are basically the same piece.

So IF you chose to do this your old outlet should have a black on one terminal on the right and a white on one terminal on the left. Add your second black to the other terminal on the right and the second white to the other terminal on the left. It doesn't make any difference which black is on top or bottom, same for the whites.

HOWEVER - (Caution, stock electrical safety warning coming up) From your questions you know nothing about electrical circuits. There is one right way and a bunch of wrong ways to do this. At the very least, I would strongly recommend that you find someone who has some electrical experience to help you along with this. What you want to do is not difficult, but it can be dangerous.

Thanks for the help, things are looking good!
