No picture, no question, no info.
Your wasting our time having to read senseless post.
There's lots of good people here that can help, but you have to help us first.

Basically all that was installed was one outlet, no lights, building is useless without lights.

yep, it is. this is not a "seeking help" site, it's an "advice and tips" site. further advice on agencies that can assist has been posted in other places.

I can tell you that utilities... water, sewer, power... in the house should be done before any of the pretty stuff is completed. because the walls and floors will have to be cut open and patched later otherwise. the roof and outside siding and weatherproofing should be done before any significant pretty is done inside, otherwise it will certainly be wrecked by leaks.

        You CANNOT be serious!!

You posted two obscure posts, with no question or info, and you call the board useless?? Try writing so that people have a clue what you are saying or asking.

joecaption is right. This is not a "seeking help" site. it is a DIY message board. You ask questions and we attempt to help you.
        Sheesh, some people.

Roll Eyes There are no such Tv shows! Believe me I've checked out all possibilities, I guess the old saying "Money talks ---- walks" is true. I don't want freebies but the last contractor took what little I had and left me with an unfinished, improperly done, damages, losses, that I will never recoup, including lawyer fees that due to no more money will not be able to finish case. I would love to hire someone and pay them to correct all but can not so I am sorry if I bothered everyone, I was just trying to reach out.... but seeing that too has failed I will just have to live with what has happened.

I'm sorry you feel as you do about this board as many people have gotten excelent advice here. prehaps, if you read your posts with an eye like someone that doesn't know your problem , you will see that your posts are incomplete and do not contain enough information for anyone to help you. Don't try to condense your questions, give us a complete description of the problem and what you are trying to accomplish, then , in most cases you will get the information that you need to either do it yourself or whether to hire a pro.
This board has been around a long time and has helped many people.

There isn't enough room on the board to go into detail, it would take volumes three inches thick or more to go into detail. As for hiring a "Pro" I already did and got screwed big time. But thank you for trying to help.

Now that we have a fuller story...

every state has, to one extent or another, a bonding requirement for licensing contractors. whether it be the commerce department, state code office, wherever the licenses are handed down, they have the power to review shoddy or no work and make some reimbursement at the contractor's expense.

some states, not all, also have a malfeasance board, names vary. the purpose of this is when a contractor stiffs or wrecks a customer's house, they pay damages from a general fund.

I would see which agency does contractor licensing, and submit a claim against this rotten apple. in some states, even if the guy was an unlicensed fly by night, there is a possibility of recovery of some cash.

the only other alternative would have been, if you are in the greater Ontario area of Canada, applying to be on Holmes on Homes. that show has ceased production, and is replaced with a TV program of remediation centered around shoddy home inspections causing problems threatening the home. apparently the host figured he could have a greater impact by both pushing home inspection hard for buyers, and weeding out creepy inspectors who barely know which end of the flashlight you don't look at.

        Wish you well.

He had a license at the start of work but let it lapse, we found out later the insurance he showed us was bogus. There is a fund but since he is no longer licensed the fund does not apply, and basically we were told they could do nothing for us.

When Holmes was filming in the USA I applied several times but they never responded and like Holmes always says the victims are S.O.L. These guys keep going around screwing others and just change their company name.

But thank you for your well wishes.

definitely a case for Your Hometown Action Eyewitness News Tipline. Creepy Sam's Cheap Carpentry may be gone, but until Creepy Sam is also gone, he's just going to keep changing the magnetic sign on his truck and (lagbolting) others.

if everybody knows to avoid Sam Ripoff by name, at least the sun will shine a little brighter.

fly-by-night contractors and handymen working on their own after hours stash a magnetic sign behind the truck seat. slap it on their truck before they drive up to a job. this week, it's Slap Happy Siding. next week if the sheriff is looking for them, they make a new one and it's King Quality Remodelling. in all cases, it's "make the check out to Sam Ripoff, please."
