Hi,
Given the increased popularity of mounting TVs above fireplaces, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with running the power through a channel cut in the mortar line. The purpose being to install an outlet behind the TV.

I'm considering doing this by tapping into a nearby receptacle, then up a channel I will cut in the mortar, then re-mortar.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It will work fine - just use an exterior grade romex (the grey stuff).
