Circuit in MBR dead-no power to outlets/wall switch. Power to breaker-breaker didn't trip. Not sure wiring run "correctly" so how do we find source. I don't want to tear out walls. Would stud finder w/ AC scan help?

Start looking for a GFI that's tripped. http://www.elocalelectricians....at-is-gfi-outlet-576 joecaption

As Joe said, check for GFCI outlets first. They don't have to be in the same room, they could be anywhere (usually the bathrooms, kitchen and garage). Also, double check the circuit breaker to the bedroom. Sometimes a breaker will trip but not flip completely to the center tripped position. Just turning it off and then back on will tell you if this is the problem. Finally, get an outlet tester or use a small appliance to find out which outlets do and do not work. Most of the time, outlets in a bedroom track from one to the other in line along the walls. If you can find two adjacent outlets where one works and one doesn't, then the odds are good that there is a loose or broken wire in one of those two outlets. Jaybee

Not sure what you mean by "wiring not run correctly" as in how can it be correct or not if not exposed to check. And how you might know. Mainly because it seems it did work at one time. That being said, I too think you have a poorly made up connection some where in the run. If you are comfortable with your working knowledge of electrical connections you should trouble shot the circuit in the manor described by Jaybee. Good luck. "Why isn't everyday Earth Day ?"

long shot, no fun if true, but it is not impossible to have a haywired connection within a wall that opens up over time, or a damaged Romex conductor that finally lets go. I had to abandon the dishwasher line for that reason and repull it. thank goodness we hadn't rerocked the basement ceiling yet. my money is on an arced backstab connection at an outlet, frankly. necessity has turned me so against backstab connections I would like to organize a firing squad for installers. they won't let me, but I cling with hope to the idea... sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?

here here i second that motion... aint worth a squat...screw those wires in!!! i dont shoot all the time but when i do, i shoot M1 carbine stay armed my friends
