        Can I combine 2 different sizes of wiring to run 110? I have 220 (8 ga I think) running from main service pannel in basement out to where a hot tub once was. And from that outside box, I also had 110 (12 ga ) to swimming pool lights. Since HT is gone (box gone too but wire still in place), I still need 110 to pool lights so can I wire nut the 8 ga to the 12 ga, reduce to 15 amp breaker (leaving one hot lead off of course) in main pannel without problem?

        You can do that. As long as your wire size is not rated at a lower amp. load than the breaker on the circuit it will work safely. 12ga is rated for 20a at 115v so you could go with a 20a breaker or drop down to 14ga wire if you stay with the 15a breaker.

        Just make sure that you rewire that 8ga wire so that you have one hot, one neutral and one ground for the 115v service.
