My fiance and I have purchased my childhood home which is a now bricked up mobile home. Dated Dated Dated are the words and a previous roof leak with repair has left some mold. The entire home needs reno'd. A roofing company has said it was not leaking anymore and is leftovers. Are there any videos/ shows out there that says best way to do mobile home reno? I thought it may be different from regular home reno because of the manufacturing.

Any help/ opinions/ links would be appreciated.

We plan on DIY EVERYTHING.

I am going to do the same thing - soon as I can find a mfg home - missed 3 last fall/summer by a day LOL
talked at the local fire station on reasons for fires and what to do since he said that all MH fires he knows about were totaled before they could get there.
right as we were getting into what to do about stopping/slowing a fire - they got a call LOL have to go back for more info.
but I do know I will have to rebuild fire resistant walls (type x drywall) on those separateing each room and probably extending it into the limited attic space - I been thinking concrete backer board - but will decide when I re-talk to him.

increase insulation - since I will be doing a lot of re-wireing to catch up to newer code (the MH I look at are all pre 1980 - thus under wired for todays bigger demand on electricity. thes is all diy work and wish I had a partner to help stringing wire LOL.

a lot of caulking and at least (depending on the roof condition) a new coat of sealer. just paints on with a roller.
being single/retired - I will be rebuilding the entry door jambs to strengthen - metal/solid doors to improve security - keep hearing of old folks getting busted in on and ripped off - not without injuries !
the only other thing I can think of right now is to
have the heater checked - in my case will prob just have a new unit put in unless its been done in the last 5-8 years.
hopefully I will nail one this spring when people start to list again.

We are starting a remodel on our mobile home. It includes moving a wall to enlarge living room area. It will also call for removing a window in the small bedroom. Our question is once the window is removed, what is the best way to fill in the space that is left?

We need to know how thick the wall is and what type of siding exist.?
Do you know who the manufacturer is and are they still in business, I would contact them to see if it's okay to remove the wall.

We already know it's ok to move the wall. It's an interior wall. We are making the middle bedroom smaller by moving the wall separating the living room and bedroom. The issue is the wall is to end up at the middle of the where the window is nlocated in the spare bedroom. We want to remove the window but don't know how to cover the open space on the outside wall.

Okay. But we still need to know the thickness of the outer wall, 2x3, 2x4, 2x6.? What type of siding, metal, or vinyl.? Is there a plywood on the outside of the wall.? A picture would help a great deal as siding is hard to match. This site may help with the exterior.
