I want to find out if there's a guide or general rule of thumb to determine the horizontal length of pull to use and the diameter of the knob; to be proportionate to the size of the drawers/doors of my new cabinets.

        Thank you.

If it looks good, do it.

Cabinet doors and drawer sizes do not vary very much - there is not much difference is knob sizes at all and only some outlandishly large pulls. Knob choice is more that of color and style - what goes with the cabinet finish and your personal preference (modern, classic etc).

Bottom line is that if you like the look then go for it - there is no rule.

Not to be personal or nosy, but do you have arthritis, or does anyone in your family have it? If so, that would be a consideration in the type of drawer knob.

Thank you Jaybee, I worry that the pulls will be too long or too short.

        Thanks again.

GardenSprite, we do not have arthritis or anything like that. I don't want the pulls too long or too short.

        Thank you.

One thing I look at when picking out the hardware is to get handles that won't catch clothes as I walk by. Not only is that annoying, but can damage the clothes or the cabinet or drawer fronts.
