I am looking to remodel my basement. Need to know steps that should be doing starting with framing to finishing steps. Can someone offer advice?
whats your skill level rob?
i dont really want to brain dump everything i know
so if you could tell what your skill level is. it would save us both a little time
do you know what a hammer is?
are you a shade tree carpenter?
or a cabinet maker?
Frodo, interesting characterization of various skill levels! I'm a kit DIY'er!
(Also a spam bump poster)
In addition to knowing what a hammer is, can you hold it properly to drive a nail?
Here is a decent article at Hometime on finishing basements. Much more than we could possibly post in a forum. Search the web This Old House, Today's Homeowner, Hometime and other TV shows on DIY and HGTV have decent websites with some how to information. There are decent books available at the front of big blue and big orange on the subject.
When you have some specific questions we can help, but trying to lay out the process step by step on a bulletin board isn't going to happen.
Any advice given here is general in nature and is not necessarily valid for your given area. If in doubt check with your local codes enforcement department for what is required when doing electrical, plumbing or structural work on your house. Permits may or may not be required in your area and home owners may not be able to DIY some tasks. I have no way of knowing if you have the skills needed to complete the tasks you are asking about, when in doubt seek professional assistance.
My advice may be worth exactly what you pay me for it. :-) For the record I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.
Thanks for the advice provided...I definitely appreciate it.
robwy...not trying to be a wise a$$
your question is kinda broad...
remodel a basement
demo old stuff

insulate if you wish
sheetrock, sand prep for paint
paint, set doors install floors
thats the broad over view
