I am always watching your shows and other DIY shows. I am currently renting a house on 1 acre surrounded by farm land. It's a beautiful place. My neighbors/landlord have given me permission to do anything I want to the property and the house just short of any structural change. They have been the best landlords my husband and I have ever had and they are very much involved with us and our girls. My husband I plan on living here atleast another 5 years if not more. My goal is to try to update this 1994 house to give it great appeal so when we leave the landlords can justifiably raise the rent. Whenever I go to lows.in puyallup I always do a walk through of the whole store looking for any one of you DIY hosts hoping I can get help crashing one of these rooms. My big projest this year is the master side of the house. I have a big master room with vaulted ceilings, walk in closet, and 5 piece master bath with soaking tub. The only problem is everything is wallpapered and lamina te
! Please help me fix this master to give it a calm relaxing look that will also fit in to the country scenery all around us.

Several things:

1. This board is not really visited by DIY network folks. Posting a message here will do nothing towards getting on a DIY show.

2. OTOH, we do have a fair amount of spammers. Do yourself a really big favor and delete your address from your sig.

3. To try to get on a DIY show, go to the DIY home page and click on the "Be on DIY" link. Be aware that the odds are very long.

4. You don't have to try to track down a TV show host to get help with your remodel. DIY shows use production and construction crews to plan and build their projects. Any town will have similar types of people - designers, contractors etc. who could give you ideas or do the project depending on your budget.

the big dirty secret behind TV is that it is a vehicle to get you into the sponsors' stores. there, I said it, you read it, and I'm not taking it back

seriously... what you can take away from these programs is that broken down into sections, DIY remodelling is not that difficult. the shows present some design features and options that you could do, if it fit your ideas of what is nice. program continuity (structure) generally shows from start to finish the series of processes.

so get out the shoebox of purty pix you have been saving, decide what you want done, and then see if you can segment what order the work has to be done. do a little web surfing if you need to find best practices on stuff like setting cabinets, laying tile, organizing the "work triangle" of a kitchen.

you might just decide to start redoing it yourself.
