my grandma gave us an old quilt [rings,or wedding rings] sence thin, i am interested in quilting, is it basicly,small scraps,sewed togather,to make x size. then stuffed, an sewed shut. i know my description was simple-ized. is the basics there

It sounds like you have a wedding ring quilt top. If I were you and not familier with quilting I would go to your local quilt shop (check online) and take a quilting class. A wedding ring quilt is difficult to make and it deserves to be quilted well.
