I am going to paint my ceilings white...in one room, the living room, we have crown moulding and a chair rail...I plan on painting them white also (enamel)...does the moulding and trim have to be the samw white ans the ceiling? I would like to paint the mopulding a soft white, something with a hint a cream color...will that look OK with the white ceiling...and no, I would rather not paint the ceiling the same pale cream as the mouldings...so, I need some help...
        what say you?

        Thanks!!

It is most common for the trim (base, chair and crown) to be a different color from the walls or ceiling. Even if the ceiling is white and the crown is white, the whites will be a different color and sheen.

The ceiling needs to be a flat sheen or every flaw will show.

Thanks very much. I know all the trims need to be the same, which is fine...just needed a couple of opinions about the white ceiling and crown moulding color becuase it seems most photos show crown moulding the same color as the ceiling...

I know to use flat on the ceilings (which is what I used when I first painted them) and will use a satin enamel or latex on the mouldings & trim.

I'm changing up everything...my last hurrah as far as painting...refacing the kitchen cabinets, the counter tops and adding bead board to the bottom of the kitchen walls.

Big Grin Brief update... I found a pro painter that is going to 'squeeze' me in and paint my ceilings...it's a one day job...I'm so happy because I was beginning to think I wasn't going to find anyone to hire this job out and if I had to DImyself, my neck would have been killing me...should be next week sometime, then I can start on the 'fun' stuff...painting the walls and trim...in fact, need to make a trip to Home Depot to buy all the extra trim I'll need.
I bought the paint...SW Eminence ceiling paint in a nice soft white, called 'Restful White'.
