Hello. After seeing about 4 online videos about how to fix a leaking faucet, I tried to tackle mine. Of course, it's not like any of the ones I saw on the videos (which were all basically the same configuration). I had great difficulty loosening the stem as there was nothing to grip with my pliers, then found it doesn't pop up out of the sink like all the others I saw. It goes back down under the sink and is hooked up nothing like anything I've seen before.

Could someone help me figure out how to fix this leaking faucet? I tried to attach two pics, but it will only let me post one.

Unless one of the connections on the underside is leaking, there's no reason to have to drop it down under the sink - go ahead and put it back.

All faucets are a little different but there are some washers / o-rings inside that are the likely causes of the leak. Turn off the supply valve below and take the faucet apart from the top. Bring any washers with you to the plumbing store to find exact matches.

you already have it appart so try to find the name of the manufactor and if you can the model # and go their web site.download the manual including the parts list and you won't have any problem to repair the leak.

looks like a Moen. they can also develop wear at the pullup at the top of the cartridge. if there is any wiggle where the handle connects, forget the washer kits -- get a whole new cartridge. put a little plumbers grease on all the rubber parts when you push it back in.

the whole cartridge is under $15. wild guess is that one is xx25, looks like the business end of our faucet. but match it up with the existing one you have out to be sure.

re submit a smaller picture
and ill tell you to take thrat cap out and replace it correctly
your valve stem is leaking because its in a unnatural bind

OK these responses are all over the place. I cannot remove anything from what you see in the pic, because I don't know what to remove or how to remove it. There is nothing listed on it that I can see that shows a brand or model. I see no way to add or replace a pic here. I remain unable to proceed.

You said you've seen 4 online videos on how to repair a faucet. Have you been looking at "how to repair a 4 inch on center faucet", or have you been looking at "how to repair an 8 inch on center faucet"???

And where is it leaking from?

I'm going to guess that this a 8 inch spread faucet, kind of obvious to me (but I don't want to ASSUME, and I am not familiar with EVERY faucet ever made), and I'm going to guess that you had a nut on top of the sink where that assembly sticks through the hole. Your picture shows one nut, and you have the other sitting on top of the sink. Those two nuts act together to adjust the height so the handle sits at the right height above the sink.

You could disconnect the copper flex line and disconnect that white flex hose and take the assembly to your local plumbing supplier and get the correct parts for the repair (assuming it is that assembly that is leaking). And shut off the water before you take the hoses apart.

also what you can do is do not select full size when choosing which picture to down load to site
try a thumb nail. that might work.
because i cant see behind that darn advertisement or whatever it is
i think your problem is your stem is in a bind and causing a leak, but cant be sure.
for your info. if a faucet has 3 pcs and hooks togather with flex hoses...its a 8 in center spread valve. that can be hooked up as a 4 in
