        tub floor cracking Sign In/Join
        posted
The floor of the plastic tub has started to crack along the curve. Hairline cracks are appearing along both sides of the bottom of the tub. The hard styrofoam base has made the underside of the tun inaccessible. Can I drill through the foam base to inject spray foam under the tub?

if you want an even bigger leak, sure. more like a gusher, actually.

spray foam is not waterproof, and it will make removing the old tub to install the new one that you certainly need harder. much harder.

the question arises: why is the tub cracking? could be the floor is not stable. could be the tub was badly installed. anything you can try is not going to fix the issue, and even doing a fiberglass or kevlar overlay with poly resin is not likely to stay fixed.

        new tub time. sorry.

sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?
