this may be a dumb question. is there a certain depth the pvc pipe goes into the fitting when glueing?
one inch, two or three inches?? It depends on what your using for fittings, and most I've seen have a "stop" ring so you shove the pipe into the fitting until it bottoms out usually about the half way spot or just before a bend. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Re-mdlr,
It varies by PVC pipe size, with the larger diameter having deeper collars. 1-1/2" will go in about 3/4" max. As Re-mdlr says, they all have stops so you cannot go too far.
if you're new to PVC then you should dry fit , or measure to the stop and make a mark on the pipe at that point. This will insure that you have the pipe all the way in when you glue it
the pipe goes all the way into the socke
t of the fitting...
cut pipe, deburr pipe, clean the pipe and te inside of the fitting with a clean cloth
apply pvc cleaner liberally to both pipe and socket
wait a minute and let it dry
apply pvc glue to both pipe and inside socket
push them togather, then..give it a little twist.
this releases any trapped air that may be in the glue jointThis message has been edited. Last edited by: Frodo,
