I live in Florida and my home has a concrete slab. My shower pan is part of the house slab and is recessed 3 ½” below the house floor level slab. I am remodeling my shower and have relocated and replaced my old shower drain. I have chiseled up the slab I have purchased a Sioux Chief 2” PVC Square-Head Shower Pan Drain Model # 821-2PQCP from Home Depot. Do I concrete all the way up to the PVC pipe that comes through the slab and if so do I need to put some type of protective material between the drain pipe and the new concrete? Also, I assume I should apply a concrete bonding agent to the existing concrete before applying the new Sakrete 5000 Plus Concrete Mix? How long should I wait after the slab repair before I replace the mud bed?

Jaybee, thanks for responding. The Sioux Chief Link you sent me is for a wood subfloor installation and does not answer my three questions. (1) Do I concrete all the way up to the PVC pipe that comes through the slab and if so do I need to put some type of protective material between the drain pipe and the new concrete? (2) Also, I assume I should apply a concrete bonding agent to the existing concrete before applying the new Sakrete 5000 Plus Concrete Mix? (3) How long should I wait after the slab repair before I replace the mud bed?

You just need to wait for each layer to cure - usually overnight - before adding another layer. You should be able to do this in 2 pours - one to replace the slab thickness and make a sloped surface for the liner and the second to continue the sloped surface and to give you enough thickness above the liner to install tile.
