Unclogging a toilet with dish soap and hot water
Has anyone tried this? Seems like a cool solution to an all too frequent problem with some low flow toilets.

I find if you are prone to clogging to flush before you put any paper in the bowl. 9 times out of 10 this works, yes it can take two flushes to get rid of everything one for the "bio-solids" and one for the paper but it beats having to break out the plunger.

If in doubt check with your local codes enforcement department for what is required when doing electrical, plumbing or structural work on your house. Permits may or may not be required in your area and home owners may not be able to DIY some tasks. I have no way of knowing if you have the skills needed to complete the tasks you are asking about, when in doubt seek professional assistance.

I heard about using hot water years ago. I tried it, found there was no difference. Never tried the soap trick though.

I've heard of this before but haven't personally tried it. I also heard that putting baking soda and vinegar in there can help as well.
