My Maytag side-by-side is leaking water thru the grill in the back of the freezer into the bottom compartment.
Any suggestions on how to fix that?

Try turning off the water supply to the ice maker and water dispenser and see if it stops. You could also try shutting it down, letting it warm up and clean it.

Any advice given here is general in nature and is not necessarily valid for your given area. If in doubt check with your local codes enforcement department for what is required when doing electrical, plumbing or structural work on your house. Permits may or may not be required in your area and home owners may not be able to DIY some tasks. I have no way of knowing if you have the skills needed to complete the tasks you are asking about, when in doubt seek professional assistance.

My advice may be worth exactly what you pay me for it. :-) For the record I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

ice maker trouble. remove the cube tray and look for leaks, or more likely, plastic wrap or similar stuff that might have been pulled into the icemaker.

we had that on our Frigidaire-made Kenmore, and it was a business getting it out of the rotating tray freezer in the icemaker unit. if you have to remove the icemaker module to search for the issue, check seals and the water bibb for any damage.

tentatively test with a helper whether the icemaker bibb leaks as the water is slowly turned on. if so, you can't test separately to see if water comes out again with the icemaker out and water to the other plumbing. at that point, the shell would have to be removed to chase the issue. warning, they break. I would not do that myself. I'd call for service.

sig: if this is a new economy, how come they still want my old-fashioned money?

        Got a model #?
Often times it's the drain line that runs from the freezer, it gets plugged up or is frozen.
It can also be a leaking door seal.
Just take a dollar bill and close the door on it in several spots. It should be hard to pull out.
There all different on how to get at it so a model may help with more info.
