I am trying to fix the mess I made without involving my plumber (and save face), the story is too long to go into!


I took one shower before this mess. That is when I realized the water wouldn't get hot. I can barely figure out which way to turn the handle for hot or cold!

I removed the handle on my new hansgrohe 04231xx0 thermostat with volume control diverter to adjust the high temperature limit stop. Adjusting the temperature stop was easy!

I realize now I unscrewed the handle screw too much and an inner screw and nut came undone.

There is a small screw about 2 millimeters, and a longer screw about 4 millimeters. With the nut in between. I don't know if the small screw goes "inside" the plastic handle mechanism, then the nut, then the bigger screw, or visa versa?


I managed to put the screws in (not sure if correctly) and got the handle back on. However the more I fiddle with it the worse it gets. The handle lever points down, 6:00. When you turn the handle to adjust the water temperature the lever slowly rotates back to its original position, 6:00.


Honestly I don't even know which way you are supposed to turn the handle? Clockwise? Counterclockwise? I'm not sure any more about any of it! Are you supposed to be able to adjust the water temperature?? Is the lever always supposed to stay at 6:00? What is the knob on the side, at 9:00, for?

HELP.

It sounds like your set screw isn't tight enough and the handle isn't locked into place. I tried looking on line for a parts blow up but not having much luck.

Looks like some nice stuff. My neighbor is in plumbing sales, maybe if I see her I can see if she sells this brand. I know she sells a German brand of high end plumbing fixtures.

I have the installation instructions/warranty pamphlet....but it didn't answer any of my questions...not even what the stupid knob on the side was for!

The thermostatic handle should turn clockwise to get cold water. It should turn counter clockwise to get hot water. With the lever at the six o'clock position the temperature should be about 100 deg. The button on the side of the handle should stop the bandle at the six o'clock 100 deg. position. You should have to press and hold the button in to turn counter clockwise past this position. The button is a safety measure to keep someone from accidentally turning past the 100 deg. mark. If you need further help feel free to contact me at Hansgrohe. 1-800-334-0455. I am so exhausted by my "simple" plumbing project I need to regain my mental and physical strength before I revisit this mess. But I feel much more confident now, I think I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
