Hi all!! New to the forum, looking for some advice..obviously. Anyhow, anytime water is used in the house, we can hear a ticking noise in one (or more) water lines in the house. Starts as a rapid ticking then as the water is running, gets slower until it stops. Not quite sure of the cause? By the way 60ish year old bungalow.1 Upstairs bathroom.Finished basement. Thanks alot for any advice.Cam

Frodo.. I was only asking if recent work had been done.
I must be going blind, I didn't see your last sentence or I wouldn't have posted. " has house house undergone a rehab or had water pipe worked on..its trash in the pipe...maybe a pebble"

Hey thanks for replying. Now that you mention it ...I did about 3 years ago put in a 2 piece bath in the baseme nt and did use pex to connect to old copper supply lines!! What is the problem in your opinion? I could replace with copper if need be...Just thought I'd try pex at the time. Thanks again. Cam
I have found that a ticking noise when water is used comes from the drain pipes changing temperature from the waste water. The drain pipes expand slightly making the noise. After a few minutes the temp has equalized and the noise subsides. It's difficult to solve unless the offenders are exposed.
