Noticed water leaking into our laundry room, after further inspection I found the culprit.

There is a leak in the plumbing behind the tub surround.
Here's a pic to clarify what I found and where.

Now what do I do, what is the likely culprit? What should I replace? Should I even attempt a repair or just bite the bullet and call a pro?

        TIA

It's leaking where the threaded fittings are threaded into the shower valve. To fix, the fitting needs to be backed all the way out, threads cleaned and new thread sealant installed before reinstall. Actually better to get a new threaded male fitting.

To do all this, the PVC pipe below the leak must be cut so that the male threaded fitting can be removed. After the new piece is threaded in place, then the cut can be spliced with a union fitting.

BTW, it looks like you may have some similar weeping leakage on the side fitting nearest the front of the pic.

If all this sounds like Greek to you, then it's time to call in a pro. Otherwise, give it a shot. You will not have to turn off the water to remove the lower fitting as it is the supply line to the bath faucet - as long as the valve remains off it wil not leak.
