What have I done wrong?

I purchased and had these installed in my new shower.

I Hate them! Or I hate the situation the way it is now.

Straight up and the water is off.
Turn to the left and the water is hot.
Turn to the right and the water is cold.
Turn All the way to the right, about 3/4 of the way around and the water is Warm. But not warm enough for me!

What has happened in the last 20 years that you can't adjust you own shower water anymore?

Is the valve just not adjusted right?

I was only trying to get black fixtures not preset water temperature

What can I do to 'fix' this situation that is totally unacceptable?

And to think I was so excited

Go back and look at the paper work that can with it. There may be directions on how to get to a set screw that adjust the anti scald.
If you find it and it still does not work, it's very common when changing out any plumbing to have knock some trash loose cause it to stick.
If you have old galvinized pipe even more so.
Old pipes are gong to leak, and plug up at some point.

try turning the handle to the 6 o'clock position and ssee what temperature you get. if it is not hot for you go to seven o'clock and so on.when you find the proper temperature put a small decal on the tile and yoy won't have to fiddle with it. i did that as huby likes it on the cool side and i like it warmer.
in case you cant find the instruction go to the moen site type in the model# and download them.

sounds like you installed the valve body for the shower control upside down. try two things...

(1) shaft should be splined, so it can be pointed anywhere. back out the screw, put the control pointed down, tighten it back up. as you turn counter-clockwise, the water should get hotter. if so, congratulations, buy a beer.

(2) the above failed. turn off the water stops, hot and cold. open the Posi-Temp control, move it through its range several times to be sure the pressure is off. put a towel over the tub drain so you don't lose small parts. open the shower valve or lift the tub spout knob, and do it again to drain the shower line. get a little "plumbers grease" which is a silicone.

now following the manufacturer instructions, remove the knob, cover plate, and the control cover. lift the control assembly straight out towards you. insure all the gaskets and stuff are in all their grooves, and put a little plumber's grease on the o-rings and gaskets. spin the shaft so the control moves 180 degrees.. bottom is top, etc. gently ease it back into the valve body, reassemble the system. it should work right now. the system is built so the control assembly can be used to correct for installation errors like being upside down.

Everything is installed correctly.
We have tweaked it every way possible and come to the conclusion we just don't like this type of rough in valve and the whole set up. So we are changing to a different one.
