        we have a Elgar 1.6 gal/6lpt toliet tank#141-250

        and it just starts running out of the blue....What do you think is causeing this ? thanks

        last night it woke me up twice and I had to shake the handle or flush it to get it to quit...

        Generally it is the flapper. It might be the chain hanging up, or the flapper is old, and needs replacement, or algae or something is on the flapper or the seat to which it sits on. Lift it up and clean the seat that the flapper seals to and the bottom of flapper, try that and see what happens.
