I am remodeling my laundry room and need to move the drain for the washer. I am wondering if I need to break the slab or if I can rout it through the wall. If I route it through the wall I will need to move it about 8 feet. I also want to add a sink nex to the washer.

the reason you cant plumb a washer 8 ft away, in the wall. is suds..and sud relief
the stand pipe, needs to be min of 24 in long
by the time your piping is run 8ft your stand pipe would be to short
with the powerful pumps on todays washers suds would come out the drain pipe [stand pipe]
find out where your under floor piping is.bust the floor its really a job for a plumber
you could save money by busting the floor and digging the rubble out..after the plumber tells you where to bust

you could always drain the washer into a standard washtub. that's the only way you can get along with a 1-1/2 inch drainline, as the tub stores water (and collects hair to clog the drain's strainer) until the drain can take it.

code now requires a minimum 2 inch drain with venting behind it for a washer standpipe.

Thanks for both suggestions. I actually just realized that the room is now almost an exact square so in reality there is no need to move the washer and dryer at all. I guess sometimes you need to ask the question to see the details.
