I want some information before I ask the plumber, in-case he tries to give me vague....that is the way it has to be, it feels hot to me, change your hot water heater setting, etc.,....answers.

He installed a Hansgrohe shower/bath combo unit, plus put in whatever it is called to stop water hammer.

Now the hot water in that shower(and bath) does not get as hot as it used to. It gets warm, but definitely not hot. In all other faucets in our house the water feels as hot as we've always had it.

My daughter and I have both used the new shower and both noticed it. I don't think it is in our heads! No one has changed the settings on our hot water heater, it is digital so I can see exactly what it is set at.

What could cause this?

It is the responsibility of the plumber, and many fail, to discuss the "anti-scald device" with the consumer and install it according to what they want. There is a cheap plastic part that keeps the handle of the valve from turning too far over to the hot side. It is to prevent "scalding" someone by accident. It is easily adjustable, and you'll notice the handle turns farther to the hot side. And the installer should adjust it for free, and feel like a dummy for not discussing it in the first place, and causing them to do a return trip. The plumbers adjustment shouldn't cost you ten cents.
For adults, I usually just put it for its hottest setting. For an elderly, disabled, or child, then it might be different.

Thanks, the plumber was a nice, competent, man. I just like to have a little knowledge about these things before I talk to the "professional" about it.

But I agree he should have asked or mentioned this anti-scald device.

It is easy to adjust yourself. You'll need an Allen Wrench to remove the handle, then you rotate the plastic part that Re-mdlr mentions in his post.

If you Google the brand of faucet you can probably get the specific directions on the web. Once you know what it is adjusting it is fairly intuitive, you might need to make several adjustments to get it right. Just make sure you run out all the cold water in the pipes and test it before you pack up your tools.
